The Bulletin, a publication of the Office of the University Registrar, is Washington University’s official record of admissions criteria, academic program requirements, and policies.

The information printed in the Bulletin for a specific academic year applies to students enrolling at Washington University for the first time that year.

This publication is used by many different populations, including the following:

  • Current and prospective students
  • Faculty and staff
  • University accreditors
  • Federal government

The Bulletin has a year-long publication cycle. It is published annually on July 1, and the final edition is archived each year in October.

Editing the Bulletin

During times scheduled by the Office of the University Registrar, updates to the Bulletin are made for the upcoming academic year. Please see the Bulletin Publication Timeline (PDF) for more information. Authorized users from all schools and departments must review their assigned content annually. If access changes are needed, please contact the Bulletin editor.

Washington University relies on the Catalog (CAT) module of the CourseLeaf curricular management software by Leepfrog Technologies to organize, edit, and publish the Bulletin. CourseLeaf CAT creates the necessary pages and tracks them through a series of approvers to ensure the accuracy and currency of all information. For additional information and training videos, please visit the Bulletin User Guide. You will need to log in using your WUSTL Key. Below you will find links to a detailed user manual and two visual guides for using CourseLeaf CAT:

Importing Courses into the Bulletin

A separate but also very important part of updating the Bulletin each year is the importing of course data. CourseLeaf CAT pulls in information from our course database so that course descriptions and other details can be displayed in various ways throughout the Bulletin.

WashU IT works with the software vendor to support this process, and the Bulletin editor and individual page owners make sure that the course data appear correctly within the catalog.

Information about the new import process for the 2025-26 Bulletin is coming soon.
