The Office of the University Registrar coordinates the scheduling of both Final and Evening exams and works diligently to ensure equitability among all those administering and taking exams.
Students are responsible for ensuring that they do not have conflicts with evening and final exams. They should verify evening and final exam dates with instructors before arranging break and end-of-semester travel plans. Students are encouraged to check their schedule during registration to see how many final exams they may have on a given day.
Students who may miss classes, assignments, or exams to observe religious holidays should refer to the University’s Religious Holiday Absence Policy.
The dates and times for in-class final exams can be viewed on Course Listings, on class schedules at WebSTAC, and at WebFAC under Courses and Rosters. Exam dates and times may vary by school and/or program–especially for graduate and pre-professional programs.
When a course has an exam code of No Final, Paper/Project/Take Home, Final Critique, See Department or See Instructor, it means that no in-room sit-down final exam is scheduled during the regular final exam period. Check with your instructor for details about any end-of-term requirements.
Final examinations will be given in regularly scheduled classrooms when possible. However, students and instructors should always check online for the most current location.
FALL 2024

Various large courses across the University hold mandatory exams in the evenings. The dates and times of courses with evening exams can be found in the course description, syllabus, and at the links below.

Final exam dates and times are determined in one of two ways:
1) By the days and times that a course section regularly meets during the semester (standard meeting pattern)
- Classes/sections scheduled at non-standard times are assigned to the exam period corresponding to the closest standard meeting pattern.
2) Block exams are reserved for courses with large enrollment and multiple sections.
Example A: Standard Class Times:
If you are enrolled in a Fall 2024 class that meets on M/W/F from 1:00-1:50 pm, the final exam will be on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 1:00-3:00 pm (Exam Code XXIII – 23).
Example B: Block Exams:
If you are enrolled in Introduction to Psychology (L33 100B Section 01 on M/W/F from 10:00-10:50 pm or Section 02 on M/W/F from 2:00-2:50 pm in Fall 2024, the Block Final Exam will be on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 3:30-5:30 pm (Exam Code XIX – 19). All Section 01 and 02 students will take the final exam at the same time.
