Course Listings: Fall 2020 Guide

Course Listings publishes the mode of instruction for each course as well as other key details about classes.  In Fall 2020, academic coursework will be delivered in a variety of formats with some courses being either predominantly online or in-person, and others in a hybrid format, with learning offered both in the classroom and remotely to serve students regardless of whether they are able to be on campus.  All courses will be designed with the capacity to pivot to fully remote learning with minimal disruption.

Label Description
Remote Section is offered entirely remotely; label may include a two-letter code indicating the school offering the course, e.g. “Remote/SW” as in the example below.
Specific Assignment Section/subsection has an in-person component at the specific room location
TBA Section/subsection will meet in-person but a classroom has not yet been assigned

Frequently Asked Questions

In the course description look at the “Instruction Type”:

If Instruction Type lists “Classroom instruction”: this course is offered in-person only and there is no option to take the course remotely.

If Instruction Type lists “Hybrid”: this course is delivered 100% both in-person and remotely to serve students studying in either modality.

If Instruction Type lists “Remote per COVID-19”: this course is offered 100% remotely with no option for in-person participation.

Yes. If a course with Instruction Type “Hybrid” has multiple sections or subsections, it is possible that some will be taught 100% remotely and others with an in-person component.

Check the Building / Room location listed for the desired section or subsection:

If it lists “Remote” for the location:

  • This means that this section or subsection is being offered entirely remotely (no in-person component).

If a building and room is assigned:

  • This means that the section or subsection will have an in-person component at the assigned room location.

If the Building / Room location says TBA:

  • This means that the section or subsection will meet in-person but a classroom has not yet been assigned.

If the course description lists “Remote” for the location:

  • This means that this section or subsection is being offered entirely remotely (no in-person component). Please note: under Room you will see an abbreviation and that abbreviation simply stands for the school in which the course is housed.

If the Building / Room location says TBA:

  • This means that the section or subsection will meet in-person but a classroom has not yet been assigned.

If a Building and Room is assigned:

  • This means that the section or subsection will have an in-person component at the assigned room location.
