Assessment of student work and resulting grades are the purview and responsibility of the instructor(s) of the course.

In order to ensure the integrity of academic records, instructors are also responsible for submitting grades to the university’s relevant system of record.  See the Office of the Provost’s website https://provost.washu.edu/resources/policies/ for policy information.

Summer 2025 Grading

Summer 2025 is the last term courses are being administered in legacy systems.  After September 26, 2025, access to WebFAC and EGrades will be removed.

Due to the transition to Workday, certain grading processes are different this term:

Where to submit grades?
Grades must be submitted directly in EGrades.  The Canvas feature to submit grades from the Canvas gradebook directly to EGrades is not available for Summer 2025.

How to submit grades?
Recommended: EGrades allows submission by manually adding grades row-by-row for each student enrolled in a course. 
Note: EGrades also has a feature to download a CSV file and re-upload it with grades, but this is not recommended for use in Summer 2025.

When to submit grades?
Grades are due on the Monday after the term ends.  In Summer 2025 this is August 18, 2025 at noon (12 p.m. CDT). 

How to change a grade for a Summer 2025 course?
If the student is a Summer 2025 degree candidate, contact the school registrar’s office for the school administering the course.
If the student is not a Summer 2025 degree candidate, a grade may be changed in EGrades until September 26, 2025.

Grading-Transition to Workday

Fall 2025 will be the first term fully administered in Workday.  For a detailed summary of the transition for instructors and support roles visit the Student Sunrise website.

Canvas course sites in Fall 2025 are available to instructors in Canvas as of May 15, 2025. For more details on Canvas changes that are part of the Workday transition, see the MyCanvas website

Grading processes for Fall 2025 will occur in Workday and more details will be provided soon.

By July 28, 2025 any grade changes for Spring 2025 or prior must be submitted to the dean’s office for the school that offered the course. Changes after that will follow a different process and more details will be provided soon.
